PHILADELPHIA — Attorney General Josh Shapiro today announced that his Office arrested 14 individuals and seized 6 kilos of heroin/fentanyl, 2 kilos of cocaine, 5 handguns, one rifle, $200,000 in cash, a kilo press, scales, and packaging equipment in the largest Kensington Initiative operation to date. Today’s law enforcement action is the result of a three-month wiretap investigation into a drug trafficking organization in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. Throughout the investigation, agents prevented three shootings over the course of just a few weeks.

HARRISBURG – Attorney General Josh Shapiro today announced that he has finalized agreements with CVS and Walgreens to bring the national amount from investigations and litigation against the pharmaceutical industry for its role in the opioid crisis to more than $54.1 billion, with $2.2 billion coming directly to Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania’s share of the CVS and Walgreens settlements is more than $450 million with the additional funds coming from Walmart, Teva, Allergen, and the firms in bankruptcy, which include Purdue, Malinckrodt and Endo. Under today’s agreements, CVS will pay $5 billion and Walgreens will pay $5.7 billion, totaling $10.7 billion. Pennsylvania can expect to see about $217 million over the next 10 years from CVS and about $236 million over the next 15 years from Walgreens.

HARRISBURG–Attorney General Josh Shapiro today announced that, as part of a multistate agreement, he’s secured a settlement that recovers $34.2 million for 46,000 service members and veterans nationwide who were deceived by Harris Jewelry. The jewelry company used deceptive marketing tactics to lure active-duty service members into a financing program, falsely claiming that doing so would improve their credit scores. In reality, service members were tricked into taking out high-interest loans for thousands of dollars on overpriced, poor quality jewelry. According to the agreement negotiated by 18 states and the FTC, Harris Jewelry must stop collecting debt from the service members they deceived and take appropriate action to correct their poor credit scores. July is Military Consumer Month and with today’s agreement, at least 87 service members in Pennsylvania who borrowed more than $100,000 will receive restitution.

HARRISBURG — Attorney General Josh Shapiro issued a consumer alert today to share safety recommendations with Pennsylvanians that will help protect them from the malicious misuse of Apple AirTags to track their locations and belongings without their knowledge or consent. Individuals have reported finding unknown AirTags attached to their cars, in their purses, coat pockets, and other personal property. Others have reported receiving alerts on their phones that their location information is being shared, even if they have not found an AirTag or other connected accessory on their person.

HARRISBURG—Attorney General Josh Shapiro and District Attorney Larry Krasner today announced the results of search and arrest warrants for 15 individuals believed to be 31st Street Gang members after an investigation into 18 shootings in Philadelphia dating back to 2016. As a result of the search warrants, several guns were recovered from multiple locations. HARRISBURG—Attorney General Josh Shapiro today announced Bradford County District Attorney Chad Salsman has pleaded guilty to charges of intimidation, promoting prostitution, and obstruction of justice. BROOKVILLE, PA — A former Catholic priest for four decades in the Diocese of Erie, David Poulson, was sentenced today to two and a half to 14 years in prison for his repeated sexual assaults against one boy and the attempted assault of another boy. Poulson was sentenced by a Jefferson County Common Pleas Court judge for corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children – both felony crimes. Poulson was taken immediately into custody after his sentencing.

HARRISBURG — Attorney General Josh Shapiro today announced new criminal charges against Lancaster County sports medicine doctor William Vollmar for sexual assault offenses on four victims. Vollmar was charged in April 2019 with indecent assault by the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, which referred the case to the Office of Attorney General. Today’s additional charges include one felony count of sexual assault, one felony count of institutional sexual assault, three felony counts of corruption of minors, one felony count of unlawful contact with a minor, and four counts of indecent assault.
